Newells Old Boys's Astor Bazil got a good chance for a goal in the 13th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Juntas getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Tomás Romelio hit a great ball. After some careless play in the Juntas defense, Astor Bazil kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Eriberto Alvarenga. The Juntas fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Eriberto Alvarenga should have stopped the shot. With a little luck, Newells Old Boys's Vicente Isadore got control of the ball when Siro Blanco tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 21st minute Tomás Romelio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vicente Isadore saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
