Enzo Raphael made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Santo Inko in the 7th minute of play. 9 minutes into the match, Rodolfo Dubardo notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Independiente's Tiburcio Millan. Tiburcio Millan was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Tiburcio Millan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rodolfo Dubardo, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. In the 14th match minute, Zimbabwe FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcelo Garaile to maneuver through the defense. 17 minutes into the game, Timoteo Iaki was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Zimbabwe FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Independiente the free kick. In the 17th minute, Timoteo Iaki hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Santo Inko could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 20th minute of the match, but Enzo Raphael made a huge save. Independiente's Severo Cebo got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Santo Inko might have been able to make a better finish in the 30th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Enzo Raphael. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Santo Inko ran back to his position shaking his head. Timoteo Iaki kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. Tiburcio Millan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rodolfo Dubardo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 39th minute, Vladimiro Lore ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tiburcio Millan was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Rodolfo Dubardo made a kick off. Enzo Raphael made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Severo Cebo in the 56th minute of play. Constantino Franco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Tiburcio Millan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A sloppy throw-in by Alejandro Mercurio in the 66th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Zimbabwe FC's Timoteo Eguen. Tiburcio Millan stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rodolfo Dubardo's shot from short distance in the 67th minute. Enzo Raphael showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Santo Inko, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. 71 minutes into the match, Independiente's goal looked a bit too open when Rodolfo Dubardo came free, but Tiburcio Millan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Through an outstanding action, after 72 minutes, Tiburcio Millan successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Severo Cebo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Enzo Raphael having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Santo Inko in the 81st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Enzo Raphael saved Zimbabwe FC from getting behind. In the 84th minute, Rodolfo Dubardo reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Tiburcio Millan. The goal made the score 0-3. An unexpectedly hard shot by Santo Inko in the 89th minute of play forced Zimbabwe FC's goalkeeper Enzo Raphael to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 96 minutes into the match, Independiente's goal looked a bit too open when Rodolfo Dubardo came free, but Tiburcio Millan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
