The coaching staff of Alvear AFC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Geronimo Acuña had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Gustavo Cloyo struck a weak shot in the 17th minute. Victoriano Formerio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Oliva AFC. The Oliva AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Esteve Oroitz should have stopped the shot. In the 47th minute Charlie Aldridge shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Victoriano Formerio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
