After 6 played minutes Violeta got a freekick which was hit by Lisandro Aimar. The crowd rose to their feet as Teobaldo Urbez kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Enrique Madaleno. That made the score 1-0 in the 8 minute of play. Enrique Madaleno made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Teobaldo Urbez in the 12th minute of play. After 13 played minutes Walt got a freekick which was hit by Nicasio Quinto. When Leonides Rivas came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the Violeta fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Leonides Rivas couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Walt booed when Violeta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lucio Goiz didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Remigio Sustrai had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Valdir Correia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Walt's Enrique Madaleno got control of the ball when Leonides Rivas tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 38th minute, Constantino Formerio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Walt's Remigio Sustrai suffered a sore knee after 41 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Lisandro Aimar charged in rather forcefully in the 41st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Lisandro Aimar the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Walt made a substitution. Moises Henry replaced Remigio Sustrai. After 42 played minutes Violeta got a freekick which was hit by Lisandro Aimar. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Valdir Correia managed to get in a good position for a shot. Walt's supporters rose to their feet, but Valdir Correia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Benedicto Raymond breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Benedicto Raymond showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Valdir Correia, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Valdir Correia made the kick off in the second half. Lisandro Aimar kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 54th minute of the game. One of Violeta:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Walt:s goal. After 60 minutes, Constantino Formerio mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Walt and the Violeta players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 60 played minutes Walt got a freekick which was hit by Constantino Formerio. Leonides Rivas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Enrique Madaleno tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 65th minute, Valdir Correia got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 67th minute, Walt's Valdir Correia ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Benedicto Raymond. Benedicto Raymond yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-3. 73 minutes into the game, Diego Martinelli recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Benedicto Raymond. Diego Martinelli showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-4. In the 77th minute Diego Martinelli shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benedicto Raymond saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Valdir Correia in the 78th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Benedicto Raymond saved Violeta from getting behind. Benedicto Raymond was out of position in the 83 minute of play, and Diego Martinelli capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Diego Martinelli really showed his touch with that goal: 1-5. 90 minutes into the game, Bruno Txomin was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Walt's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Violeta the free kick. After a rather tough play, Walt's Bruno Txomin got a free kick in the 91st minute. Fausto Bernabel took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 92nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Enrique Madaleno. Walt's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Teobaldo Urbez in the 98th minute of play forced Walt's goalkeeper Enrique Madaleno to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
