Medellín's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Segundo Checa was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-0. When the match clock showed 90 minutes, the score became 7-0 when Segundo Checa sped through Medellín's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Pedro Laurentzi. When Mauro Petri came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Metal Works fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mauro Petri couldn't finish the play. If Mateo Jurgi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Medellín's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
