In the 13th minute of the match academia got a corner. Cangrejos's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Severo Blasco ran over to the corner to take the kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Severo Blasco got free with Tomás Cordaryal in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After the first half Cangrejos were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Osvaldo Paes took the ball and in the 55 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Tomás Cordaryal. Tomás Cordaryal dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. After some careless play in the Cangrejos defense, Fabian Turi kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tomás Cordaryal. The Cangrejos fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tomás Cordaryal should have stopped the shot. Tomás Cordaryal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fabian Turi in the 65th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fabian Turi in the 65th minute of play forced Cangrejos's goalkeeper Tomás Cordaryal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 75 minutes into the match, Cangrejos's goal looked a bit too open when Fabian Turi came free, but Tomás Cordaryal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
