Paulino Pacorro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Silvestre Quentin in the 18th minute of play. In the 20th minute, Alfonso Tiniebra ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Leo Jerano was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. In the 24thth minute of the game Murillo Reis who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Atletico Madrid's Leo Jerano was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Atletico Madrid's Paolo Gauargi got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some careless play in the Atletico Madrid defense, Murillo Reis kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Leo Jerano. The Atletico Madrid fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Leo Jerano should have stopped the shot. Alfonso Tiniebra sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in España's zone, Leo Abilio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Paulino Pacorro came out of the goal and Leo Abilio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Arnoldo Rodriguez during the 38th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 38 played minutes España got a freekick which was hit by Arnoldo Rodriguez. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Silvestre Quentin in the 40th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Paulino Pacorro prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Murillo Reis's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Leo Jerano firmly grabbed it by the left post. Leo Jerano made a fantastic save in the 43rd minute, when Murillo Reis sent off a good shot on target. If Murillo Reis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Murillo Reis was the one to do the kick off. In the 54th minute, Leo Abilio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Atletico Madrid getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Conrado Bonifaco hit a great ball. Atletico Madrid's Leo Jerano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alfonso Tiniebra in the 60th minute of play. Paulino Pacorro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paolo Gauargi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Paolo Gauargi managed to get in a good position for a shot. Atletico Madrid's supporters rose to their feet, but Paolo Gauargi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Paulino Pacorro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Murillo Reis blasted a shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Leo Jerano having to make a save. 70 minutes into the match, Atletico Madrid's goal looked a bit too open when Alfonso Tiniebra came free, but Leo Jerano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 72 minutes into the match, España's goal looked a bit too open when Silvestre Quentin came free, but Paulino Pacorro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 81 minutes into the match, Murillo Reis had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Leo Jerano. Atletico Madrid's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Murillo Reis was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0.
