But to his dismay, Geronimo Oliveiro quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Tigre's Generoso Ereinotz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Moises Naelio in the 6th minute of play. Generoso Ereinotz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristobal Gaueko in the 8th minute of the match. After 9 minutes, Alejandro Amaya mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Tigre and the Mutare Diamonds players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Tigre booed when Mutare Diamonds was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Primitivo Baldovino didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tigre's Generoso Ereinotz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Moises Naelio in the 14th minute of play. Generoso Ereinotz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Moises Naelio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 21st minute Moises Naelio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Generoso Ereinotz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Generoso Ereinotz was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 31st minute, Melquiades Barros hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Generoso Ereinotz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Moises Naelio, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. Generoso Ereinotz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristobal Gaueko in the 42nd minute of play. In the 45th minute of the match Florentino Romelio shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Generoso Ereinotz showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 46th minute, Geronimo Oliveiro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Moises Naelio to make the kick off. In the 51st match minute, Mutare Diamonds was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Primitivo Baldovino to maneuver through the defense. In the 54th minute, Eustacio Basajaun hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Geronimo Oliveiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Generoso Ereinotz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 83rd minute, Geronimo Oliveiro reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Generoso Ereinotz. The goal made the score 1-4. When Cristobal Gaueko came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Mutare Diamonds fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristobal Gaueko couldn't finish the play. If Melquiades Barros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When the final whistle sounded Mutare Diamonds left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Tigre.
