The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Pedro Ferdinand showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Pedro Ferdinand stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Bartolo Steven's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. Bartolo Steven received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Pedro Ferdinand tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Abel Segio lost his temper 35 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. The goalkeeper, Victoriano Regis, was totally fooled by Independencia's Dante Salvadore, who 36 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Isidro Tadzio struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Victoriano Regis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Independencia. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Fabian Tauro made a kick off. In the 53rdth minute of the game Isidro Tadzio who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but El Matador's Victoriano Regis was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Nemesio Irrintzi received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Pedro Ferdinand came out and tried to block the shot, but Nemesio Irrintzi slotted it home off the left post making it 1-2 in the 54th minute.
