The referee ignored Nieves AFC's protests and gave David Gelmiro a yellow card for diving instead. David Gelmiro kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. Nieves AFC's Martin Aznaro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Horacio Rioja in the 27th minute of play. If Marcelo Jacindo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Paulino Belmiro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Los Pibes's supporters rose to their feet, but Paulino Belmiro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Martin Aznaro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Los Pibes booed when Nieves AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Teofilo Refugio didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 45 played minutes, Nieves AFC's Godofredo Salvino shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Maximiliano Kaiet came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Nieves AFC reached it. Horacio Rioja fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Martin Aznaro having to interfere. After the first half Nieves AFC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Maximiliano Kaiet showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marcelo Jacindo, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Los Pibes's zone, Marcelo Jacindo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Maximiliano Kaiet came out of the goal and Marcelo Jacindo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Wilfredo Estevon's late challenge caught a Nieves AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Wilfredo Estevon helped the player get up and apologised. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcelo Jacindo in the 67th minute of play forced Los Pibes's goalkeeper Maximiliano Kaiet to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Nieves AFC's Marcelo Jacindo in the 69th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Maximiliano Kaiet was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Los Pibes through an amazing save. If Prospero Astudillo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Los Pibes's Maximiliano Kaiet proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 77th minute of the match, managed to save Los Pibes from getting a goal against them. Nieves AFC's Martin Aznaro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Horacio Rioja in the 80th minute of play. When Melquiades Raymundo fell near the penalty area in the 82nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Los Pibes's protests and gave Melquiades Raymundo a yellow card for diving instead. 84 minutes in the game Teofilo Refugio got a great opportunity which he missed by shooting outside the goal.
