The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Ali Kaan Gündüz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Milan's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Independiente the free kick. Lino Honrio hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Rene Ostargi took the ball and in the 29 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Franjo Kvaternik. Franjo Kvaternik dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Lino Honrio recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 35th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Franjo Kvaternik was out of position in the 38 minute of play, and Rene Ostargi capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Rene Ostargi really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. Narciso Hever showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alejandro Laffitte, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Pedro Bittor to strike the kick off in the second half. The goalkeeper, Narciso Hever, was totally fooled by Milan's Braulio Grabiel, who 62 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. After 65 played minutes Independiente got a freekick which was hit by Reynaldo Mingo. If Ali Kaan Gündüz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Silverio Platon charged in rather forcefully in the 81st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Silverio Platon the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 81 played minutes Independiente got a freekick which was hit by Silverio Platon. Franjo Kvaternik didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Silverio Platon went, in the 84th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score. After having played for 91 minutes, Ali Kaan Gündüz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Milan's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ali Kaan Gündüz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 94 minutes into the match, Milan's goal looked a bit too open when Aaron Elequemedo came free, but Franjo Kvaternik reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Ali Kaan Gündüz came up free with the goalie in the 98th minute, the Milan fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ali Kaan Gündüz couldn't finish the play. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Independiente were victorious despite being under pressure from Milan for much of the match.
