Samuel Monte came out of the goal and Gerardo Lluis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Albano Urtungo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Samuel Monte having to interfere. In the 41st minute, Gustavo Niguel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sixto Castel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emilio Resto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gerardo Lluis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gerardo Lluis to make the kick off.
