Elvio Mattin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Americo Cordarryl having to interfere. Manuel Hulberto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 19th minute, Juan Domingo Peron's Elvio Mattin dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. Arnoldo Bizen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Manuel Hulberto in the 27th minute of the match. 28 minutes into the match, Juan Domingo Peron's goal looked a bit too open when Edelmiro Harkaitz came free, but Arnoldo Bizen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Juan Domingo Peron's Jairo Arotza got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jairo Arotza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jairo Arotza struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Americo Cordarryl didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Juan Domingo Peron. Americo Cordarryl took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Elvio Mattin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The crowd rose to their feet as Club Atl. Rosario Central's Carlos Salvatore slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Arnoldo Bizen. That made the score 1-2 after 54 minutes of play. If Jairo Arotza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 60 minutes, Elvio Mattin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Juan Domingo Peron's supporters crossed their fingers, but Elvio Mattin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jairo Arotza's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Americo Cordarryl read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 63rd minute of play. In the 64th minute, Elvio Mattin got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Jairo Arotza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Americo Cordarryl showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cosme Marin in the 69th minute of the match. A collision led to Juan Domingo Peron getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Jairo Arotza hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Edelmiro Harkaitz in the 76th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Arnoldo Bizen saved Juan Domingo Peron from getting behind. Juan Domingo Peron's attentive Jairo Arotza managed to snatch the ball when Jorge Eate made a throw-in in the 79th minute of the game. Jairo Arotza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Urbano Rayman blasted a shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Americo Cordarryl having to make a save. After a defensive mix-up in Club Atl. Rosario Central's zone, Elvio Mattin stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Americo Cordarryl came out of the goal and Elvio Mattin tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Elvio Mattin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Americo Cordarryl tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
