In the 29th minute Lázaro Gomez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Modesto Javiero saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 31 minutes, Esteban Raitin mouthed his way into the referee's book. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Anibal Maju couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 63rd minute, Lázaro Gomez managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gimnasia y Esgrima de Mza's supporters rose to their feet, but Lázaro Gomez was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Modesto Javiero breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 65th minute, Anibal Maju reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Modesto Javiero. EL PORVENIR DE LA ILUCION's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Lázaro Gomez was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-5. 79 minutes into the match, EL PORVENIR DE LA ILUCION's Bruno Anjos sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Damian Loren narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The supporters of EL PORVENIR DE LA ILUCION booed when Gimnasia y Esgrima de Mza was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Justo Osasun didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 82 minutes of play, Gimnasia y Esgrima de Mza's Lázaro Gomez made it 1-6 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. When the final whistle sounded Gimnasia y Esgrima de Mza left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than EL PORVENIR DE LA ILUCION.
