After a rather tough play, Brighton & Hove Albion's Hernan Mateus got a free kick in the 14th minute. The supporters of Brighton & Hove Albion booed when C.A.Independiente was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Armando Chorche didn't get a good kick on the ball. Esteve Sendoa was a little too slow when Edgardo Tohias got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 20th minute. The score was now 2-0. Alejandro Pueblo in the 23rdth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Esteve Sendoa, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After 26 minutes, Clemente Playo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the C.A.Independiente and the Brighton & Hove Albion players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 27th minute, Alejandro Pueblo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Pelle Skoglund might have been able to make a better finish in the 30th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nemesio Gaur. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Esteve Sendoa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edgardo Tohias in the 45th minute of the match. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

After 52 minutes, Hernan Mateus mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Brighton & Hove Albion and the C.A.Independiente players grew even worse after the yellow card. Edgardo Tohias blasted a shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Esteve Sendoa having to make a save.
