Ascensión FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Gilberto Gonsalvo took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 24th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Samuel Palos. Deportivo Río Cuarto's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Samuel Palos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Remigio Haritz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 28 minutes into the match, Isaias Hever notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Deportivo Río Cuarto's Samuel Palos. Samuel Palos was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The nice shot from Tytus Marek in the 31stth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Patricio Araoz had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. When Melquiades Dabi fell near the penalty area in the 32nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ascensión FC's protests and gave Melquiades Dabi a yellow card for diving instead. When Remigio Haritz came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Ascensión FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Remigio Haritz couldn't finish the play. Deportivo Río Cuarto's Samuel Palos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leonides Rameriz in the 37th minute of play. Patricio Araoz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Silverio Jesco in the 39th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Remigio Haritz in the 41st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Samuel Palos saved Deportivo Río Cuarto from getting behind. After 43 played minutes, Deportivo Río Cuarto's Saverio Lapurdi shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Patricio Araoz came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Deportivo Río Cuarto reached it. After 47 played minutes Ascensión FC got a freekick which was hit by Leonides Rameriz. After the first half Ascensión FC were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, Remigio Haritz managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ascensión FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Remigio Haritz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Samuel Palos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Thanks to some nice moves Isaias Hever could shoot a difficult shot in the 55th minute, which Samuel Palos however easily saved by the left post. If Armando Feliz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tytus Marek fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Patricio Araoz having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Deportivo Río Cuarto's Mark Scotti got a free kick in the 64th minute. When Isaias Hever came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the Ascensión FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Isaias Hever couldn't finish the play. In the 74th minute, Leonides Rameriz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Silverio Jesco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Patricio Araoz having to interfere. 79 minutes into the match, Eriberto Cebrian had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Samuel Palos. Deportivo Río Cuarto's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Eriberto Cebrian was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. Silverio Jesco blasted a shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Patricio Araoz having to make a save. When the match had gone on for 86 minutes, Armando Feliz put it in 2-3 from a short distance just to the right of Patricio Araoz. Ascensión FC's Patricio Araoz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Armando Feliz in the 90th minute of play. 93 minutes into the match, Silverio Jesco notched a goal, 3-3, to the right of Ascensión FC's Patricio Araoz. Patricio Araoz was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Deportivo Río Cuarto were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Ascensión FC to leave the ground with a draw.
