Abdulbaki Sermet was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The referee felt a red card was in order, 18 minutes into the game, when Paulo Ferran put in a rough tackle. The supporters of Los Diablos Rojos booed when Chipiscú AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paulo Ferran didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Los Diablos Rojos's zone, Edelmiro Min stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Abdulbaki Sermet came out of the goal and Edelmiro Min tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Vladimiro Telmo hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Anastasio Gabrio was out of position in the 27 minute of play, and Uriel Abecia capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Uriel Abecia really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. In the 31st minute, Uriel Abecia fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Jorginho Barbosa hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. Igor Bernabel took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 35th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Anastasio Gabrio. Chipiscú AFC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 37th match minute, Los Diablos Rojos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Benito Primeiro to maneuver through the defense. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Edelmiro Min in the 42nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Abdulbaki Sermet saved Los Diablos Rojos from getting behind. Abdulbaki Sermet made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edelmiro Min in the 44th minute of play. In the 45th minute Edelmiro Min shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Abdulbaki Sermet saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Chipiscú AFC were awarded a corner in the 52th minute after Los Diablos Rojos's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Gaudencio Eyague took the corner. The corner ended in Gaudencio Eyague almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Los Diablos Rojos's Abdulbaki Sermet did a great save. Chipiscú AFC's Edelmiro Min got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Anastasio Gabrio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Benito Primeiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Edelmiro Min sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Benito Primeiro hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. A collision led to Chipiscú AFC getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Ulf Bergfelt hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Edelmiro Min's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Abdulbaki Sermet was relentless in the 84th minute of the game.
