When Benicio Lawrence came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Zaire fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Benicio Lawrence couldn't finish the play. The audience thought a goal was coming when 龚宁德 got free with Eugenio Nardo in the 78th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Eugenio Nardo was out of position in the 80 minute of play, and Benno Heinväli capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Benno Heinväli really showed his touch with that goal: 0-3. In the 89th minute Arsenio Clis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eugenio Nardo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Arsenio Clis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Eugenio Nardo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Velez Sarsfield's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
