Lino Ascencio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Maximino Lauro in the 48th minute of the match. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Alfredo Veremundo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Lino Ascencio dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 7-0. The referee ignored Canallas's protests and gave Agustin Caetano a yellow card for diving instead. Lino Ascencio made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 8-1. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Alvear fans cheered their team off the field, for while Canallas had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
