BANFIELD's supporters rose to their feet, but Samuel Lauren was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Emanuel Tirso breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Mecoyta FC booed when BANFIELD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Abel Pepillo didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Placido Xabel came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the Mecoyta FC fans jumped to their feet. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.
