Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rene Iban in the 18th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Francisco Ortzi prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Francisco Ortzi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rene Iban in the 22nd minute of the match. After 24 played minutes FC BARCELONA got a freekick which was hit by Cristian Quiroga. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Francisco Ortzi prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Delmar Jago struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Francisco Ortzi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Club Atletico Banfield. In the 42nd minute, Mateo Iratze hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Mateo Iratze stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes in the game, Rene Iban fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Francisco Ortzi having to interfere. In the 56th minute, Rene Iban got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Club Atletico Banfield's Rene Iban got a good chance for a goal in the 58th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The crowd rose to their feet as Club Atletico Banfield's Delmar Jago slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Francisco Ortzi. That made the score 0-1 after 63 minutes of play. The supporters of FC BARCELONA booed when Club Atletico Banfield was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edelmiro Honrio didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 73rd minute Edelmiro Honrio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Francisco Ortzi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, FC BARCELONA's Mateo Iratze got a free kick in the 95th minute. When the match was over Club Atletico Banfield could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than FC BARCELONA throughout the match.
