When Serafino Gorri fell near the penalty area in the 12th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored newells's protests and gave Serafino Gorri a yellow card for diving instead. In the 12th minute, Serafino Gorri hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to newells getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Anibal Elizardo hit a great ball. When Ricardo Odon came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the Muñoz FC fans jumped to their feet. The Esteve Ezkerra was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Marcelo Rius fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Esteve Ezkerra having to interfere. Esteve Ezkerra made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ivan Flor in the 44th minute of play. After a rather tough play, newells's Aureliano Abecia got a free kick in the 46th minute. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Ricardo Odon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aaron Rocendo having to interfere. Aaron Rocendo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ricardo Odon, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. If Timoteo Moise had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 84th minute, Ricardo Odon got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 91stth minute of the game Marcelo Rius who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Muñoz FC's Esteve Ezkerra was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The newells fans' excitement grew in the 91st match minute when newells's Marcelo Rius looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Ricardo Odon sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. newells had played much better football throughout.
