Arsenio Azubeli fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Armando Beat having to interfere. Armando Beat made an important save on a dangerous shot by Arsenio Azubeli in the 12th minute. Arsenio Azubeli struck a weak shot in the 16th minute. Armando Beat didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sur Granate. If Arsenio Azubeli had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Velez Sarsfield's Armando Beat got control of the ball when Ernesto Mark tried to sneak it across the goal line. The audience was convinced that Arsenio Azubeli's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Armando Beat was relentless in the 85th minute of the game. When the match had gone on for 87 minutes, Arsenio Azubeli put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Armando Beat. The referee ignored Velez Sarsfield's protests and gave Guido Iago a yellow card for diving instead. Ernesto Mark blasted a shot towards the goal in the 98th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Armando Beat having to make a save.
