Ricardo Iorio received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Ernesto Nuñez came out and tried to block the shot, but Ricardo Iorio slotted it home off the left post making it 3-1 in the 26th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Casey's zone, Florencio Benat stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ernesto Nuñez came out of the goal and Florencio Benat tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ricardo Iorio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Florencio Benat had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alfredo Playo kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. 41 minutes into the game, Julio Argina was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Gimnasia de La Plata's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Casey the free kick. The tension between the Casey and the Gimnasia de La Plata players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Casey getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. When the match clock showed 69 minutes, the score became 6-1 when Ricardo Iorio sped through Casey's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Ernesto Nuñez. The crowd rose to their feet as Casey's Arnaldo Rodriguez slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Romeo Cibran. That made the score 6-2 after 75 minutes of play. After a rather tough play, Casey's Paolo Ovando got a free kick in the 80th minute. Ernesto Nuñez stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ricardo Iorio's shot from short distance in the 82nd minute. When the match clock showed 85 minutes, the score became 7-2 when Ricardo Iorio sped through Casey's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Ernesto Nuñez. After 91 minutes of play, Gimnasia de La Plata's Ricardo Iorio made it 8-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ernesto Nuñez was left in no man's land by his defense there! The audience was convinced that Ricardo Iorio's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ernesto Nuñez was relentless in the 96th minute of the game.
