When the match had gone on for 26 minutes, Gervasio Oro took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Marciano Bertol to make any attempt to save it. With 30 minutes on the clock, Mauro Rios commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. Rawson's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Pichincha the free kick. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Julian Vergaray to make the kick off. In the 73rd minute, Ezequiel Mundo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Marciano Bertol stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Julian Vergaray's shot from short distance in the 74th minute. When the match had gone on for 76 minutes, Julian Vergaray put it in 5-1 from a short distance just to the right of Marciano Bertol. After a defensive mix-up in Rawson's zone, Julian Vergaray stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marciano Bertol came out of the goal and Julian Vergaray tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 81 minutes, Gilberto Valerio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pichincha's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gilberto Valerio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Julian Vergaray blasted a shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Marciano Bertol having to make a save. In the 85th minute the ball was on its way in behind Rawson's goalkeeper Marciano Bertol, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.
