When Melquiades Obeko came up free with the goalie in the 3rd minute, the Retamal fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Melquiades Obeko couldn't finish the play. Otávio Lima might have been able to make a better finish in the 5th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Abel Marcones. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Otávio Lima ran back to his position shaking his head. Abel Marcones showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tião Lago in the 7th minute of the match. If Otávio Lima had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 11th minute Feliberto Bidun shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Apolo Mon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Retamal's Leon Luar got a free kick in the 21st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Otávio Lima in the 24th minute of play forced Retamal's goalkeeper Abel Marcones to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Apolo Mon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Feliberto Bidun, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. 30 minutes into the game, Leon Luar was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Retamal's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Excursionistas FC the free kick. In the 31st minute, Leon Luar hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The Excursionistas FC fans' excitement grew in the 37th match minute when Excursionistas FC's Samuel Evangelista looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 42nd minute, Melquiades Obeko got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Tião Lago fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Abel Marcones having to interfere. The Retamal players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Excursionistas FC were winning 0-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Feliberto Bidun made a kick off. With a little luck, Retamal's Abel Marcones got control of the ball when Otávio Lima tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 55th minute Excursionistas FC were awarded a corner. Tião Lago went to the cornerflag to take it. Otávio Lima made a great header on Excursionistas FC's corner, it was just that Retamal's Abel Marcones managed to reach the ball for a save. If Otávio Lima had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 74th minute, Samuel Evangelista left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Excursionistas FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. In the 78th minute, Excursionistas FC's Tião Lago ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Abel Marcones. Abel Marcones yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-3. Otávio Lima took the ball and in the 83 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Abel Marcones. Abel Marcones dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-4. 93 minutes into the match, Excursionistas FC's Otávio Lima sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Abel Marcones narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When the match was over Excursionistas FC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Retamal throughout the match.
