Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Humberto Botello to make the kick off. David Hedbom blasted a shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Adriano Baptista having to make a save. 63 minutes into the game, one of river plate:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave Los mugre a penalty, 64 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Esteban Suero, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of river plate's Adriano Baptista. 1-1. When Jonatan Lico came up free with the goalie in the 68th minute, the river plate fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jonatan Lico couldn't finish the play. David Hedbom recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Adriano Baptista came out of the goal and Tobias Roderigo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 99th minute of the match Justo Pelagius sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Baldomiro Modestio skillfully saved the ball.
