The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute, one of Azulcuesta FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Azulcuesta FC. Higinio Unax had in the 6thth minute some difficulties stopping Gustavo Otoniel's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. When the match had gone on for 8 minutes, Osvaldo Tiniebra put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Higinio Unax. C.A. BOEDO JUNIORS's Saul Gonsalve got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Higinio Unax took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Osvaldo Tiniebra, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 15 minutes into the match, Azulcuesta FC's goal looked a bit too open when Saul Gonsalve came free, but Higinio Unax reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Osvaldo Tiniebra sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 18th play minutes Saul Gonsalve shot 0-2, a short shot which went by Higinio Unax and just under the crossbar into goal. In the 29th minute the ball was on its way in behind C.A. BOEDO JUNIORS's goalkeeper Alberto Salvator, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Saul Gonsalve took the ball and in the 31 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Higinio Unax. Higinio Unax dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. Higinio Unax stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Osvaldo Tiniebra's shot from short distance in the 40th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Osvaldo Tiniebra in the 42nd minute of play forced Azulcuesta FC's goalkeeper Higinio Unax to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Saul Gonsalve sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Osvaldo Tiniebra to strike the kick off in the second half. Higinio Unax was left in no man's land by his defense there! When Ricardo Normando fell near the penalty area in the 71st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Azulcuesta FC's protests and gave Ricardo Normando a yellow card for diving instead. BOEDO JUNIORS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alvaro Cordarell helped the player get up and apologised. After 94 played minutes Azulcuesta FC got a freekick which was hit by Alvaro Cordarell. Alberto Salvator showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Artemio Montae, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute.
