Cleto Dino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Paolo Lluc tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hernan Abecia hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. Hernan Abecia made in the 22nd minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Inocencio Mancio however managed to control. Constantino Intxixu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Guillermo Rumaldo went, in the 24th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. After a defensive mix-up in Yuquerí's zone, Jorge Oroitz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Paolo Lluc came out of the goal and Jorge Oroitz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Severino Oto charged in rather forcefully in the 40th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Severino Oto the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 41 played minutes Yuquerí got a freekick which was hit by Severino Oto. Constantino Intxixu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Andres Maura, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. In the 94th minute Andres Maura shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Constantino Intxixu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Real Madrid's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
