Erasmo Valente stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Fred Muggerud's shot from short distance in the 19th minute. Benigno Dominic hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. Santa Rita FC's Fred Muggerud got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Lucas Gentza was extremely unlucky when he, in the 23rd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. If Fred Muggerud had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 30 played minutes Santa Rita FC got a freekick which was hit by Vladimiro Rufio. After having played for 31 minutes, Gualterio Gagriel managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Zapata FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gualterio Gagriel was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 46th minute Lucas Gentza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erasmo Valente saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Arturo Ferrer to make the kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Denis Otsoa during the 52nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.
