Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Carlos Maju kicked off to start the match. In the 5th minute, Benjamin Mikelats hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Independiente booed when Euskadi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anacleto Lizar didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Bernabe Nuñez came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the Independiente fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bernabe Nuñez couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Maju in the 24th minute of play forced Independiente's goalkeeper Basilio Elequemedo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bernabe Nuñez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Candido Thomas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 29th match minute, Euskadi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anacleto Lizar to maneuver through the defense. Candido Thomas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bernabe Nuñez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Independiente were awarded a corner in the 31th minute after Euskadi's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Constantino Sazon took the corner. Juan Bernebe tried to clear up in front of the goal, but didn't succeed and rather the ball rolled into the own goal to the right of a despaired Candido Thomas. An unnecessary self made goal, 0-1 in the 32nd minute. Desiderio Sugar hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. Basilio Elequemedo came out of the goal in the 40th minute to try and stop a shot by Euskadi's Carlos Maju. But to his dismay, Carlos Maju quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. 43 minutes into the game, Carlos Maju was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Euskadi's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Independiente the free kick. After 43 played minutes Euskadi got a freekick which was hit by Carlos Maju. Carlos Maju fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Basilio Elequemedo having to interfere. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Bernabe Nuñez was the one to do the kick off. When Euskadi's Carlos Maju in the 51st minute got a chance for a shot 51st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Independiente's goalie prevented a goal. In the 52nd minute Carlos Maju shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Basilio Elequemedo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Basilio Elequemedo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Juan Bernebe, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Independiente's Gerardo Etxepare got a free kick in the 54th minute. Basilio Elequemedo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Benjamin Mikelats in the 55th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Carlos Maju in the 56th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Basilio Elequemedo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Carlos Maju's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Basilio Elequemedo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 57th minute of play. Carlos Maju sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Carlos Maju fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Basilio Elequemedo having to interfere. In the 66th minute, Paulino Playo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Juan Bernebe recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 67th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Candido Thomas was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Bernabe Nuñez showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-2 in the 74 minute of play. Carlos Maju sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Independiente's Gerardo Etxepare got a free kick in the 83rd minute. In the 86th minute, Carlos Maju left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Euskadi fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Carlos Maju in the 90th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Basilio Elequemedo saved Independiente from getting behind. Carlos Maju sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Despite being the better team, Euskadi failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
