Romeo Oto made a fantastic save in the 31st minute, when Melquiades Damario sent off a good shot on target. 33 minutes into the match, C.A. Bohemia's goal looked a bit too open when Paulo Roldan came free, but Tomáš Boháč reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jan Šícha in the 37th minute of play forced Newells Old Boys's goalkeeper Romeo Oto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 40th minute Paulo Roldan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tomáš Boháč saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 45 minutes into the game, C.A. Bohemia's Guillermo Bizen nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Romeo Oto made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Alfredo Di Stéfano made a kick off. Tomáš Boháč made a fantastic save in the 54th minute, when Paulo Roldan sent off a good shot on target. C.A. Bohemia's Tomáš Boháč proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 55th minute of the match, managed to save C.A. Bohemia from getting a goal against them. Romeo Oto stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Alfredo Di Stéfano's shot from short distance in the 59th minute. Romeo Oto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Melquiades Damario in the 65th minute of play. Romeo Oto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Melquiades Damario, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Newells Old Boys getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Clodoveo Gonzalez hit a great ball.
