Defensores de Caballito's Luisito Quirce played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eleazar Alire in the 38th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Eleazar Alire's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Luisito Quirce was relentless in the 43rd minute of the game. Aaron Ralondo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The Defensores de Caballito players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. River Plate were winning 0-2.

After 50 played minutes River Plate got a freekick which was hit by Benigno Tino. River Plate's Eleazar Alire got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Leo Azubeli received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Luisito Quirce tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 62nd minute, Eleazar Alire got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the match was over River Plate could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Defensores de Caballito throughout the match.
