The audience thought a goal was coming when Delmiro Mercurio got free with Genaro Gai in the 7th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. El Salteño's Genaro Gai played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Delmiro Mercurio in the 9th minute of play. If Delmiro Mercurio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 15 minutes of play, El Salteño's Rogelio Deunoro made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Victor Jaunti was left in no man's land by his defense there! Rogelio Deunoro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Victor Jaunti tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ramon Rito fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Genaro Gai having to interfere. When Delmiro Mercurio came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Cafferata AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Delmiro Mercurio couldn't finish the play. Genaro Gai showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ramon Rito, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. When Ramon Rito came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Cafferata AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ramon Rito couldn't finish the play.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ramon Rito stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Marcelo Innocenzio's late challenge caught a Cafferata AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
