After some fancy dribbling in the 13th minute, Rogelio Matteo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Austral FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Rogelio Matteo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jesus Enmanuel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Victoriano Porfirio during the 15th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 15th minute, Victoriano Porfirio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Gimnasia getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Ildefonso Atarrabi hit a great ball. After 19 played minutes, Austral FC's Victoriano Porfirio shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Jesus Enmanuel came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Austral FC reached it. Jesus Enmanuel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Domingo Muc, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 23 minutes, Jorge Ongile mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gimnasia and the Austral FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Gimnasia's Jorge Ongile got a free kick in the 23rd minute. Domingo Muc fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jesus Enmanuel having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Austral FC's Baltasar Ponc got a free kick in the 38th minute. Austral FC's Gilberto Cordarrel proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 41st minute of the match, managed to save Austral FC from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rogelio Matteo in the 43rd minute of play forced Gimnasia's goalkeeper Jesus Enmanuel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Domingo Muc to make the kick off. Domingo Muc scored 0-1 in the 52nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jesus Enmanuel, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Rogelio Matteo's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Jesus Enmanuel firmly grabbed it by the left post. When Jorge Ongile was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 80 minutes had been played. A collision led to Gimnasia getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Jorge Ongile hit a great ball. Ciro Etxatxu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 83rd minute. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Gimnasia lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
