The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. La Guardia Imperial's Baldomero Stephen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hipolito Isadore in the 4th minute of play. Patricio Constancio took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 6th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Baldomero Stephen. La Guardia Imperial's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Herminio Roderigo took the ball and in the 8 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Baldomero Stephen. Baldomero Stephen dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Narciso Rico kicked well hit freekick during the 10th minute of the match. Hipolito Isadore charged in rather forcefully in the 12th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Hipolito Isadore the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Hipolito Isadore hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. When the match clock showed 13 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Cafu Moreno sped through Club Atlético Saldungaray's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Eugenio Tello. In the 30th minute of the match Ismael Ovando sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Baldomero Stephen skillfully saved the ball. Fabricio Venerando charged in rather forcefully in the 36th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Fabricio Venerando the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Baldomero Stephen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hipolito Isadore in the 41st minute of play. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The supporters of Club Atlético Saldungaray booed when La Guardia Imperial was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Artemio Fliz didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Cafu Moreno came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the La Guardia Imperial fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cafu Moreno couldn't finish the play. German Chuan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Eugenio Tello tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Carmelo Rocendo kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. A collision led to La Guardia Imperial getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Artemio Fliz hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, La Guardia Imperial's Narciso Rico got a free kick in the 71st minute. In the 72nd minute of the match Patricio Constancio shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Baldomero Stephen showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. With a little luck, La Guardia Imperial's Baldomero Stephen got control of the ball when Hipolito Isadore tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 76th minute, Fabricio Venerando hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Baldomero Stephen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Herminio Roderigo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Hipolito Isadore could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 89th minute of the match, but Baldomero Stephen made a huge save. 96 minutes into the match, Club Atlético Saldungaray's goal looked a bit too open when Cafu Moreno came free, but Eugenio Tello reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Club Atlético Saldungaray had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
