The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Urbano Piearres in the 19th minute of play forced Sauce's goalkeeper Javier Luar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 58 minutes, Leonides Tercero managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sauce's supporters crossed their fingers, but Leonides Tercero was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Javier Luar made an important save on a dangerous shot by Urbano Piearres in the 61st minute. If Segundo Pio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Javier Luar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Urbano Piearres in the 89th minute of play. Fernando Vigil scored 2-0 in the 91st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Hugo Olo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The Sauce players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
