An unexpectedly hard shot by Cipriano Orland in the 11th minute of play forced River Plate's goalkeeper Rui Barral to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rui Barral made an important save on a dangerous shot by Carolo Maldonado in the 16th minute. A collision led to El Ciclon getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Fellipe Marinho hit a great ball. River Plate's Denílson Tepedino got a good chance for a goal in the 23rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Rui Barral made a fantastic save in the 28th minute, when Carolo Maldonado sent off a good shot on target. Rui Barral showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cipriano Orland in the 29th minute of the match. 31 minutes into the match, River Plate's goal looked a bit too open when Cipriano Orland came free, but Rui Barral reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cipriano Orland in the 36th minute of play forced River Plate's goalkeeper Rui Barral to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 39th minute, River Plate's Camilo Jaume seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Camilo Jaume the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of River Plate protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Camilo Jaume had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After 38 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for River Plate! Jacobo Paio's late challenge caught a El Ciclon's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jacobo Paio helped the player get up and apologised. Jacobo Paio hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Cipriano Orland to strike the kick off in the second half. Cipriano Orland recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 65 minutes into the game, El Ciclon's Cipriano Orland nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Rui Barral made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. A collision led to River Plate getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Jacobo Paio hit a great ball. Rui Barral showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cipriano Orland, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. 72 minutes into the match, River Plate's goal looked a bit too open when Carolo Maldonado came free, but Rui Barral reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cipriano Orland scored 4-1 in the 74th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rui Barral, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 77th minute, Cipriano Orland ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rui Barral was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-1. Rui Barral didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Cipriano Orland went, in the 82nd minute, to the upper right corner, 6-1 was the resulting score. Rui Barral showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carolo Maldonado, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. Bernabe Azeari sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rui Barral made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carolo Maldonado in the 94th minute of play. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. El Ciclon had played much better football throughout.
