With his leg Andres Orlondo managed to avoid a goal in the 11thth minute, when Gimnasia y Esgrima LP's Rosendo Fonda fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Ramiro Gorosti showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Feliberto Costante in the 17th minute of the match. In the 20th minute, Severino Henrico got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gimnasia y Esgrima LP's Ramiro Gorosti played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Serafino Medina in the 21st minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Honorato Vargas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gimnasia y Esgrima LP's supporters rose to their feet, but Honorato Vargas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Andres Orlondo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ramiro Gorosti took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Severino Henrico, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Tomas Nel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Andres Orlondo came out and tried to block the shot, but Rosendo Fonda slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 38th minute. When Jesus Rudolfo came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the Gimnasia y Esgrima LP fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jesus Rudolfo couldn't finish the play. If Rosendo Fonda had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Rosendo Fonda made a kick off. Rosendo Fonda received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Andres Orlondo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 56th minute Anastasio Dolfo suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. In the 56th match minute, Gimnasia y Esgrima LP was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tomas Nel to maneuver through the defense. In the 61st minute, Honorato Vargas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Tomas Nel struck a weak shot in the 61st minute. Andres Orlondo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gimnasia y Esgrima LP. Salazar's Andres Orlondo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rosendo Fonda in the 66th minute of play. 69 minutes into the match, Salazar's goal looked a bit too open when Honorato Vargas came free, but Andres Orlondo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Nel in the 72nd minute of play forced Salazar's goalkeeper Andres Orlondo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 74 minutes into the match, Serafino Medina notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Gimnasia y Esgrima LP's Ramiro Gorosti. Ramiro Gorosti was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. If Jesus Rudolfo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rosendo Fonda sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rosendo Fonda in the 89th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Andres Orlondo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 91st minute, Arnulfo Soter hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some careless play in the Salazar defense, Teofilo Juvenal kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Andres Orlondo. The Salazar fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Andres Orlondo should have stopped the shot.
