The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A collision led to Población FC getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Modesto Gaitan hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aurelio Distiratsu in the 19th minute of play forced Población FC's goalkeeper Everardo Rivero to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Everardo Rivero stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Aurelio Distiratsu's shot from short distance in the 20th minute. When Madariaga's Gaston Cortez in the 25th minute got a chance for a shot 25th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Población FC's goalie prevented a goal. 33 minutes into the match, Gaston Cortez notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Población FC's Everardo Rivero. Everardo Rivero was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Everardo Rivero took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aurelio Distiratsu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 39 played minutes Población FC got a freekick which was hit by Celedonio Beltxe. After 41 minutes, Aurelio Distiratsu made it 0-3 with a short kick to the right side. Población FC's Everardo Rivero tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 45th minute, Matias Betadur hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

Everardo Rivero showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gaston Cortez in the 52nd minute of the match. Everardo Rivero stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gaston Cortez's shot from short distance in the 54th minute. In the 58th minute, Aurelio Distiratsu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Madariaga fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-4. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Aurelio Distiratsu in the 65th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Everardo Rivero saved Población FC from getting behind. A collision led to Madariaga getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Ildefonso Dimo hit a great ball. If Aurelio Distiratsu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 77 played minutes Población FC got a freekick which was hit by Celedonio Beltxe. Aurelio Distiratsu who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 87thth minute tested the skills of Everardo Rivero when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Gaston Cortez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Everardo Rivero having to interfere. Población FC's Everardo Rivero played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gaston Cortez in the 90th minute of play. In the 96th minute, Gaston Cortez got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
