Seating: 1642, VIP seats: 142) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Oscar Quirce started the match with the kick off. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 3rd minute of the game. One of SANTA RITA F.C:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of RIVER PLATE:s goal. Basilio Eguen charged in rather forcefully in the 6th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Basilio Eguen the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 6 played minutes SANTA RITA F.C got a freekick which was hit by Basilio Eguen. 12 minutes into the game, Eliseo Berdaitz was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. RIVER PLATE's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave SANTA RITA F.C the free kick. A collision led to RIVER PLATE getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Eliseo Berdaitz hit a great ball. 14 minutes into the match, SANTA RITA F.C's goal looked a bit too open when Kevin Backman came free, but Gaston Teyo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. SANTA RITA F.C's Gaston Teyo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kevin Backman in the 15th minute of play. 16 minutes into the match, Kevin Backman had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Gaston Teyo. SANTA RITA F.C's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Kevin Backman was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. In the 23rd minute Kevin Backman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gaston Teyo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 24 minutes into the match, SANTA RITA F.C's goal looked a bit too open when Roman Ikatz came free, but Gaston Teyo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Roman Ikatz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gaston Teyo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kevin Backman, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Gaston Teyo came out of the goal in the 30th minute to try and stop a shot by RIVER PLATE's Kevin Backman. But to his dismay, Kevin Backman quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. Eustaquio Evis made a fantastic save in the 35th minute, when Basilio Eguen sent off a good shot on target. Gervasio Romelio kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. Oscar Quirces short, quick shot in the 37thth minute got Eustaquio Evis to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Gaston Teyo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Roman Ikatz in the 43rd minute of play. 45 minutes into the game, RIVER PLATE's Eliseo Berdaitz nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gaston Teyo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-4. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-4 lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Kevin Backman made a kick off. Oscar Quirce recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Basilio Eguen kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. 55 minutes into the match, SANTA RITA F.C's goalkeeper Gaston Teyo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Roman Ikatz. In the 57th minute Kevin Backman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gaston Teyo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Kevin Backman was extremely unlucky when he, in the 60th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. 65 minutes into the match, SANTA RITA F.C's goalkeeper Gaston Teyo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Roman Ikatz. During the 65th minute of the match Basilio Eguen completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Basilio Eguen a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After a rather tough play, SANTA RITA F.C's Basilio Eguen got a free kick in the 66th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Kevin Backman during the 73rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 73 played minutes RIVER PLATE got a freekick which was hit by Kevin Backman. Evaristo Seme sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 81st minute, Evaristo Seme made a precise shot to the right of Eustaquio Evis. RIVER PLATE's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-4. Gaston Teyo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kevin Backman in the 86th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Oscar Quirce in the 87th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Eustaquio Evis prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Marciano Cebo took the ball and in the 90 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Eustaquio Evis. Eustaquio Evis dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-4. In the 94th minute, Jason Hutchins hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. RIVER PLATE's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
