The referee showed 武耀寒 the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Eugenio Idacio's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Vicente Hegoi read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 28th minute of play. 31 minutes into the game, Romulo Itzaina was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. River Plate's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave West Ham United FC the free kick. After 30 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for River Plate! In the 37th minute, Herminio Toli left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The West Ham United FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. In the 41st minute, Serafino Faro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. West Ham United FC's Gašpar Divjak got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Venancio Ostargi was the one to do the kick off. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Venancio Ostargi couldn't finish the play. In the 86th minute Venancio Ostargi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vicente Hegoi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nunez Azeari took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Octavio Petrigai, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, West Ham United FC's Prospero Osoitz got a free kick in the 93rd minute. West Ham United FC played a much better game than River Plate and deserved their victory. The River Plate players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
