In the 16th minute, Froilan Veto got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Froilan Veto kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. Jeronimo Gizon made an important save on a dangerous shot by Froilan Veto in the 20th minute. 22 minutes into the match, Froilan Veto notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of PIOVANENSE's Jeronimo Gizon. Jeronimo Gizon was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 25th minute the ball was on its way in behind PIOVANENSE's goalkeeper Jeronimo Gizon, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Club Atlético River Plate's Carlos Pereira pulled a muscle in his back after 30 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Hugo Garikoitz charged in rather forcefully in the 30th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Hugo Garikoitz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Horacio Jerardo couldn't finish the play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Horacio Jerardo was the one to do the kick off. Carlos Orlan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 51st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 58 minutes into the match, PIOVANENSE's goal looked a bit too open when Horacio Jerardo came free, but Jeronimo Gizon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Estevez Rufrancos made a fantastic save in the 60th minute, when Gogo Honesto sent off a good shot on target. The audience thought a goal was coming when Aaron Ponciano got free with Estevez Rufrancos in the 62nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Horacio Jerardo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 66th minute Horacio Jerardo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jeronimo Gizon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jeronimo Gizon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mauricio Rodas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Augusto Ponc sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Fausto Felipillo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Freddy Domiku hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. Horacio Jerardo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Jeronimo Gizon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A beautiful save bye PIOVANENSE's goalie prevented a goal. Fausto Felipillo struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Jeronimo Gizon didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Club Atlético River Plate. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Club Atlético River Plate fully deserved thier win.
