In the 16th minute, Leo Nayely hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in The Economist's zone, Arturo Toribio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fredrik Bengtsson came out of the goal and Arturo Toribio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Mikail İksir came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the Dos Dragones FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mikail İksir couldn't finish the play. Primitivo Gauargi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from José Luis Guzmán in the 46th minute of play. In the 47th minute the ball was on its way in behind The Economist's goalkeeper Fredrik Bengtsson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. José Luis Guzmán was the one to do the kick off. Primitivo Gauargi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from José Luis Guzmán, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Leo Nayely received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Primitivo Gauargi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If José Luis Guzmán had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leo Nayely in the 89th minute of play forced Dos Dragones FC's goalkeeper Primitivo Gauargi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Arturo Toribio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If José Luis Guzmán had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. The Economist had won after a very even match.
