The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 4 minutes, Felix Lartaun mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Rodeo and the Porteña players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Rodeo getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Felix Lartaun hit a great ball. When Nicanor Casado fell near the penalty area in the 13th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Porteña's protests and gave Nicanor Casado a yellow card for diving instead. In the 13th match minute, Porteña was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nicanor Casado to maneuver through the defense. Igor Bartolome didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Sylwester Zuraw went, in the 17th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Norberto Duardo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Igor Bartolome having to interfere. Aurelio Miro's late challenge caught a Rodeo's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Porteña's Igor Bartolome played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sylwester Zuraw in the 38th minute of play. Porteña's Horacio Gar got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Norberto Duardo might have been able to make a better finish in the 46th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Igor Bartolome. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Norberto Duardo ran back to his position shaking his head. Hipolito Benat received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Igor Bartolome tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

In the 82nd minute, Gaspar Urbes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ricardo Vincent took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Horacio Gar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Porteña fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Rodeo were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
