The supporters of Deportivo Martes booed when Columbus Crew was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ezequiel Lastur didn't get a good kick on the ball. 4 minutes into the match, Basilio Venerando had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Salvador Ofelio. Columbus Crew's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Basilio Venerando was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Basilio Venerando's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Salvador Ofelio firmly grabbed it by the left post. Basilio Venerando received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Salvador Ofelio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 14th minute, Horacio Jorrin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 19th minute, Basilio Venerando left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Deportivo Martes fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. Ezequiel Lastur kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. When Basilio Venerando came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Deportivo Martes fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Basilio Venerando couldn't finish the play. Sladjan Ibrahimovic in the 34thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Salvador Ofelio, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. 36 minutes into the match, Basilio Venerando had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Salvador Ofelio. Salvador Ofelio dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-0. Mateo Ceandro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Salvador Ofelio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 62ndth minute of the game Sladjan Ibrahimovic who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Columbus Crew's Salvador Ofelio was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 64th minute, Basilio Venerando ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Salvador Ofelio was frozen by the shot and now it was 6-0. In the 71stth minute of the game Basilio Venerando who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Columbus Crew's Salvador Ofelio was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Horacio Jorrin kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. Columbus Crew's Salvador Ofelio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Basilio Venerando in the 73rd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 75th minute, Basilio Venerando managed to get in a good position for a shot. Deportivo Martes's supporters rose to their feet, but Basilio Venerando was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Salvador Ofelio breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Salvador Ofelio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Basilio Venerando in the 77th minute of the match. If Topocho Colimán had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 80th minute, Basilio Venerando left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. A beautiful save bye Columbus Crew's goalie prevented a goal. When the referee ended the match the Deportivo Martes players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
