The score was now 1-0. 14 minutes into the match, Columbus Crew's goal looked a bit too open when Francisco Quinteros came free, but Salvador Ofelio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Trenel FC's Edelmiro Oihenarte in the 22nd minute got a chance for a shot 22nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Columbus Crew's goalie prevented a goal. Edelmiro Oihenarte sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 29 minutes into the match, Horacio Jorrin had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Silvano Piorno. Trenel FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Horacio Jorrin was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edelmiro Oihenarte in the 33rd minute of play forced Columbus Crew's goalkeeper Salvador Ofelio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Francisco Quinteros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Isaias Roland struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Salvador Ofelio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Trenel FC. Salvador Ofelio stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Edelmiro Oihenarte's shot from short distance in the 41st minute. In the 45th minute, Edelmiro Oihenarte got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ezequiel Lastur kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. When Isaias Roland came up free with the goalie in the 48th minute, the Trenel FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Isaias Roland couldn't finish the play.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Edelmiro Oihenarte made a kick off. Salvador Ofelio made an important save on a dangerous shot by Edelmiro Oihenarte in the 53rd minute. A collision led to Columbus Crew getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Hernan Gorbea hit a great ball. Florencio Endira took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 58th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Salvador Ofelio. Columbus Crew's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Edelmiro Oihenarte sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Trenel FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Isaias Roland was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Patricio Vimaro charged in rather forcefully in the 75th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Patricio Vimaro the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Columbus Crew getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Patricio Vimaro hit a great ball. Isaias Roland recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Isaias Roland sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Salvador Ofelio stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Edelmiro Oihenarte's shot from short distance in the 88th minute. Isaias Roland fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Salvador Ofelio having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Columbus Crew's zone, Eusebio Pes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Salvador Ofelio came out of the goal and Eusebio Pes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Many of Trenel FC's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Trenel FC may have spent more time on the ball, but Columbus Crew were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
