Eugenio Trevino's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Eliseo Frutos read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 6th minute of play. Romulo Ayala made an important save on a dangerous shot by Silverio Nesor in the 7th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Augusto Efren got free with Romulo Ayala in the 10th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Flamengo booed when Zanjón AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Flavio Lidon didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience held their breath when Bernardino Rameriz in the 16th minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Eliseo Frutos's left hand side. Eliseo Frutos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eugenio Trevino, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Zanjón AFC's zone, Sergio Frederico stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eliseo Frutos came out of the goal and Sergio Frederico tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Eliseo Frutos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eugenio Trevino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 33rdth minute of the game Eugenio Trevino who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Zanjón AFC's Eliseo Frutos was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. A hard shot 36 in the game by Silverio Nesor from a close distance when the talented Romulo Ayala managed to make a qualified save. Flamengo's players were relieved. The supporters of Zanjón AFC booed when Flamengo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nunez Franco didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Aureliano Lixandro came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Zanjón AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aureliano Lixandro couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Zanjón AFC booed when Flamengo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nunez Franco didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cyprian Falke fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eliseo Frutos having to interfere. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

After 56 minutes, Flavio Lidon mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Zanjón AFC and the Flamengo players grew even worse after the yellow card. Flavio Lidon kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. If Eugenio Trevino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 66 played minutes Zanjón AFC got a freekick which was hit by Jairo Frichoso. Zanjón AFC's Aureliano Lixandro got a good chance for a goal in the 71st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 73 minutes, Eugenio Trevino made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Zanjón AFC's Eliseo Frutos tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Eugenio Trevino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eliseo Frutos having to interfere. Eugenio Trevino came free with the goalkeeper in the 82nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Eliseo Frutos could save by the left post. Eugenio Trevino who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 84thth minute tested the skills of Eliseo Frutos when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Zanjón AFC's Nunez Rito got a good chance for a goal in the 87th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Romulo Ayala made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Silverio Nesor in the 89th minute of play. Flamengo's Romulo Ayala played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Augusto Efren in the 90th minute of play. Flamengo's Cyprian Falke got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Eliseo Frutos was a little too slow when Sergio Frederico got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 97th minute. The score was now 1-2. When the match was over Flamengo could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Zanjón AFC throughout the match.
