A collision led to Athletic Bautista getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Severino Madeo hit a great ball. When Eugenio Trevino came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the Flamengo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eugenio Trevino couldn't finish the play. In the 22nd minute, Athletic Bautista's Damaso Guipuzkoa seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Damaso Guipuzkoa the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Athletic Bautista protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Damaso Guipuzkoa had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Damaso Guipuzkoa hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. Eugenio Trevino took the ball and in the 24 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Adolfo Dominix. Athletic Bautista's attentive Natalio Beremundo managed to snatch the ball when Freddy Elequemedo made a throw-in in the 46th minute of the game. The Athletic Bautista players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Flamengo were winning 0-4.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Severino Madeo to make the kick off. Athletic Bautista's Adolfo Dominix proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 58th minute of the match, managed to save Athletic Bautista from getting a goal against them. A collision led to Flamengo getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Freddy Elequemedo hit a great ball. Flamengo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Athletic Bautista the free kick. With a little luck, Athletic Bautista's Adolfo Dominix got control of the ball when Eugenio Trevino tried to sneak it across the goal line. Adolfo Dominix was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a defensive mix-up in Athletic Bautista's zone, Sergio Frederico stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Adolfo Dominix came out of the goal and Sergio Frederico tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Eugenio Trevino got free with Adolfo Dominix in the 90th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 93 minutes into the game, Severino Madeo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Athletic Bautista's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Flamengo the free kick.
