Hans Ahlbom showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Feliberto Estevon in the 15th minute of the match. In the 26th minute Dariusz Wojtkiewicz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hans Ahlbom saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Eugenio Pedroso hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. In the 35th minute of the match, Vernon Winterburn got a very nice opportunity to score, but Flavio Qwinton was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. After a defensive mix-up in Fuerte Fortín's zone, Froilan Gervaso stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hans Ahlbom came out of the goal and Froilan Gervaso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Froilan Gervaso in the 38th minute of play forced Fuerte Fortín's goalkeeper Hans Ahlbom to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Acebal's Flavio Qwinton got control of the ball when Vernon Winterburn tried to sneak it across the goal line. 46 minutes into the game, Fuerte Fortín's Baldomero Inguma nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Flavio Qwinton made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

When the match had gone on for 53 minutes, Vernon Winterburn put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Flavio Qwinton. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Vernon Winterburn in the 56th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Flavio Qwinton prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 57th match minute, Fuerte Fortín was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aristides Frisco to maneuver through the defense. Tiburcio Blasco hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. Froilan Gervaso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Hans Ahlbom tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Froilan Gervaso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 69 played minutes Fuerte Fortín got a freekick which was hit by Eugenio Pedroso. Froilan Gervaso's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Hans Ahlbom read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 71st minute of play. Flavio Qwinton didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Vernon Winterburn went, in the 74th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. Flavio Qwinton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vernon Winterburn, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. Vernon Winterburn's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Flavio Qwinton read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 80th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Baldomero Inguma in the 81st minute of play forced Acebal's goalkeeper Flavio Qwinton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 89 minutes into the match, Vernon Winterburn notched a goal, 4-0, to the right of Acebal's Flavio Qwinton. Flavio Qwinton was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Fuerte Fortín's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
